About Me

My photo
Jenny K.
I am originally from Los Angeles and currently reside in New Orleans. I have lived in New York, Atlanta, El Paso, Mexico and Scotland. I have traveled to over 15 countries throughout the world and driven through over 35 US states. I have an MA degree in Cultural Anthropology, and a second MA in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. I am a professor, ethnographer and a freelance writer. I am currently teaching sociology, anthropology and women's studies. For the past 9 years, I have conducted research on the US-Mexico border. My work concerns violence against women in Ciudad Juarez, narcotics related violence, and artistic forms of social protest. I am currently writing a book about the US-Mexico border that integrates insights gleaned from my ethnographic fieldwork, photography and online media research.
